Study materials are updated whenever there is a content update released by NBCC (National Board of Certified Counselors), or when the content is outdated and in need of revision. NCEExamPrep.com strives to ensure that its content is current and reliable.
Do I need prior counseling experience to use these materials?
No, however, most people preparing to pass the National Counselor Examination have completed a master's degree in counseling with practicum requirements that have provided some level of counseling experience.

How many practice exam questions are available?
There are close to 3000 unique questions being updated regularly!
Are the lesson videos live or pre-recorded?
The weekly group tutoring is live. Its recorded and made available through the Subject Series courses for replay!
Is the study manual available in a printable format?
The study manual is available in pdf, printed and audio (MP3) formats
Do you offer study guides for specific topics?
Study guides for specific topics are not available but many of the video lessons have downloadable pdf resources and presentation handouts.
Can I take unlimited practice tests?
Yes! During your enrollment you can take an unlimited number of tests. Because of the unique testing platform, each time you take an exam or quiz, the questions are randomly selected so you essentially have a new exam with each attempt!
Do you offer personalized study plans or coaching?
Personalized study plans are not available but Josh is willing to discuss your situation to help you plan and figure out the best way to utilize the study resources. While one-on-one tutoring is not available, Josh tries to be responsive to needs via email/text/video/zoom.
Can I track my progress in the practice exams?
The Recommended Study Plan has a page for keeping track of your test progress. Additionally, your practice exam scores are emailed to you with a link so you can return and review your answers and explanations.
Are there any interactive or adaptive learning tools included?
The online community forum is VERY interactive and a great place to connect and network with others preparing to pass the NCE!

How much does the study package cost?
The Guaranteed Study Package is available in 30 ($269), 60 ($249) or 90 ($229) day enrollment options. The fee is one-time, not recurring. At the end of your enrollment you will be provided with a discount code should you need to extend your time with the content.
Do you offer installment payment options?

How do I access my study materials after purchase?
You can follow the link that is emailed to you or login using the “Login to My Content” button at the top of the page!
What should I do if I forget my password?
Click the “forgot password” link on the user sign-on page and you will be redirected to receive it again.
How long do I have access to my study materials?
This depends on the product you purchased. You can look on your emailed receipt or follow this link to look at your order history.
Can I extend my access if I need more time?
Yes, the way to extend access is to simply make another purchase. If you are a Guaranteed Study Package user, you will be emailed a coupon code for a discount on your extension!
Do I need an internet connection to access the materials?
Yes, unless you have downloaded the content. Some resources are available for download and once they are on your device, you will no longer need internet to access them.
Can I download the study materials for offline use?
Some of them, yes. The pdf of the NCEExamPrep Study Manual is available for download and use by the original purchasing user (not for sharing).

What is the National Counselor Examination (NCE)?
The National Counselor Examination is a crucial step for individuals wanting to become a National Certified Counselor or to receive a counseling license issued by their state. The NCE is overseen by the National Board of Certified Counselors.

How many questions are on the NCE?
There are 200 questions on the NCE. 160 of them are scored and 40 are used for item analysis for future exam creation.
What is the required passing score?
The passing score for each version of the exam is determined by the difficulty index assigned to the overall collection of questions. For this reason the passing score has a range with each administration of the exam having a different score. For more information follow this link.
How often can I retake the exam if I don’t pass?
You may reschedule your exam every 30 days
Where do I register for the NCE exam?
You will need to create an account with the Credentialing Gateway at my.nbcc.org. Once you have registered, you will receive an email with instructions to schedule your exam with Pearson Vue testing centers.
How much does the NCE exam cost?
The NCE costs $275 each time you take it.
What should I bring to the test center on exam day?
Two forms of identification with the name matching the one used when registering. Nothing else is required. Lockers are provided for all personal belongings.
How long does it take to receive my NCE exam results?
You will receive your test results within a few minutes of completing your exam.
Refunds & Cancellations
How does the money-back guarantee work?
If you purchase one of the Guaranteed Study Packages, follow the Recommended Study Plan and STILL do not pass the NCE, your purchase will be refunded.
Can I request a refund if I change my mind?
Refunds will be granted up to 3 days after purchase if the study content has NOT been accessed.
What if I fail the exam after using your materials?
If you fail the exam and are eligible for a refund, an audit of your account activity will be completed. If it is determined that the Recommended Study Plan was followed correctly, a refund of your original purchase amount will be issued.
Do you offer a free trial before purchasing?
A free trial is not currently available.
Can I transfer my subscription to another person?
No, subscriptions and enrollments only allow the original purchaser access. User accounts may not be shared.
What happens if I purchase a package but decide I don’t need it?
If the study content has not been accessed a refund can be issued up until three days after purchase.

Because the content is the same for the National Clinical Mental Health Counselor Exam (NCMHCE) and the Counselor Preparation Comprehensive Examination (CPCE), we do have customers that user our material to study. CPCE practice exams are also available for purchase and are included in the Guaranteed Study Package.
